This is the part that makes everyone nervous! Don't worry, I've got you! Everyone has a good side or angle and I will help to find it. I will be coaching you the entire time. I will be tethered to my laptop so we can view the shots in real time and see what is working and what we may need to work on so we can get that perfect shot!
The difference between a good headshot and a great headshot is the ability to visually communicate who you are and that all happens in the expression. Yes! lighting, posing and composition are all very important as well, and I got you covered, but the most important part of a headshot is the expression. We want that expression to portray confidence and approachability. I will be coaching you throughout the session to help you achieve that expression, and it may take 30 minutes or it may take the full 60 minutes, there is no rush. This is all about you and I want you to feel relaxed.
Step two: We shoot & have fun!
Once your final images are chosen, they will be professionally edited and retouched. You will receive a high resolution JPEG file of each image that was chosen as well as custom size and crops for social media platforms like LinkedIn.
Step three: Post-Production
For women, we highly suggest investing in professional hair and makeup services. Makeup and hair for photography is different than the average everyday look, and a professional can help you look and feel your absolute best. My makeup artists know how I shoot and the different lighting setups I use which helps in achieving professional and polished final images. They also offers basic straightening or curling of the hair. This service generally takes
1-1 1/2 hours to 2 hours.
This is my most asked question! So frequent in fact, that I created an entire guide to help answer it and I will send it along with your invoice once you book to help you prepare. The short answer is - wear clothing you feel good in, that is fairly form fitting, and achieves the "look" you are going for (ex. professional, casual, stylish, etc.). Yes to wearing color! You can always bring an more and iCan help you choose. Be sure to read the style guide from front to back, I have tried to answer every question posible to help you prepare. Being prepared will make for a stress-free session!
It is important when you are scheduling your headshot appointment, that you allow time to view and purchase your images so that I can get them to you in a timely manner. This viewing time is part of the session fee and I highly encourage you to make time or this otherwise it may take longer for you to receive your editing images. If for some reason you cannot stay I can send you a viewing link that will only be good for 24 hours. Here you can choose your images. If you have not chosen the images within 24 hours there will be a $75 fee to keep the link up for an additional 24 hours.
You will receive your retouched images within 4-7 days after choosing your images. They will be delivered via online link. Here you will be asked to download directly to a folder on your desktop.
Yes! We find most of clients are busy professionals (many of whom would rather visit the dentist for a root canal before stepping in front of a camera!), and this usually results in some last minute scheduling. I am always happy to accommodate deadlines, therefore I offer a RUSH FEE of $50 per image.
We require a 48 hour cancellation. Session fees are non refundable, but will be applied to a session rescheduled within 30 days of cancellation.We must have this policy because our studio holds your date and time just for you and if you have booked my MUA, it is a loss of business for her as well. Of course emergencies come up, so please let me know as soon as possible if you need to cancel due to an emergency and as long as we get you rescheduled within 30 days of original shoot date your session fee will be applied.
I’ve got you. Almost every single person I have ever photographed has told me that they are “un-photogenic”. I don’t believe in that. With professional lighting, creative composition, and guided posing prompts, I will take the best photos of you you’ve ever seen. The entire session is directed, and I will be talking to you, fixing misplaced hair or wardrobe, and creating a comfortable environment for the entire duration of the shoot. I will be tethered to my computer and you will be able to see the photos live as I shoot so you can feel confident we are getting the images you want, and so we can fix anything along the way. I promise the hardest part is showing up - I will handle everything from there!!!
